Interlanguage links connect pages with similar content for different languages to be accessible via the sitelink navigation by using the interlanguagelink
function.
The interlanguagelink
function is mostly concerned with managing content in different languages using separate pages that are interlinked with each other. Content pages referring to the same reference are assumed to represent similar content in a different language.
For example, in the {{interlanguagelink:fr|Maurice Carême}}
tag, the first argument specifies the language code (fr
, hu
) of the content, while the second argument contains an arbitrary reference (in this case, Maurice Carême
) that describes content of similar nature (content that should be connected to each other) for different languages.
Interlanguage link tags, along with category tags, are usually added at the very bottom of the page for the convenience of other editors.
